There are several movies that share the same name, Crush. “The Crush” is a 1993 American psychological thriller film written and directed by Alan Shapiro, which stars Cary Elwes and Alicia Silverstone. This is Silverstone’s feature film debut. It was filmed in Canada in 1992.

This movie is loosely based on a true story.

Writer Nick Eliot (Cary Elwes) arrives in a new city after finding a job at Pique magazine. He is an investigative journalist. He finds lodging in a guest house belonging to Cliff and Liv Forrester. Attractive Nick soon makes friends with the Forrester’s cute 14-year-old daughter Adrian (Alicia Silverstone.) She is a precocious gifted girl who has borderline personality disorder and develops an intense crush on him. Nick tries his best to ignore Adrian’s advances as he understands that she is too young and he has to be the responsible adult. She secretly enters Nick’s house and sneaks into his room and rewrites one of his stories which was written for Pique magazine. The manipulated article wins a rave from his editor/boss Michael. At a party organized by the Forresters, Nick agrees to take Adrian to a lovers’ spot and she kisses him there without any encouragement by Nick.

This strengthens Adrian’s crush on Nick, but he keeps her at a distance as he has already started a budding romance with coworker Amy. Adrian continues to get Nick’s attention by even going so far as to undress in his view. Nick ignores her advances, and Adrian’s actions become destructive due to continuous refusal by Nick. She scratches Nick’s car by writing “cocksucker” as he refuses to be her lover and pays his attention to his coworker Amy. Adrian also erases Nick’s computer discs with his valuable data. Adrian is very envious of Nick’s girlfriend Amy and tries to take revenge from her by locking her up in her darkroom and releasing a wasps’ nest into the vents.

You should see the movie yourself to see if Amy survives the wasps attack and who wins Nick at the end of the movie. Though the movie starts as a very romantic story you will be with full of suspense as the story unfolds further. These things can happen to you in your real life too.
