I watched Terminator Genisys, the American science fiction action film directed by Alan Taylor today at Willmax Theater, Anuradhapura. I was pleasantly surprised to see on the Web that the theater has 3D facilities. Hence the decision to watch it in Anuradhapura.
Legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger is back for his eponymous character, the terminator in the newest installment after missing the fourth installment, Terminator Salvation. I liked the first, second and the third installments of the movie since Schwarzenegger played the title roles in all three movies. But the third installment, Terminator Salvation was a complete disaster of a movie without Schwarzenegger and the little cameo of computer generated image of Schwarzenegger did not help much. He was busy playing the disastrous real life role of the governor (people nicknamed him the Governator) of California by that time and had temporarily given up movies, which was a complete waste and an injustice to the Hollywood.
The story in the Terminator Genisys is little complicated with a lot of scenes moving back and forth of time and you should have watched all installments of the movie to understand it better. But this does not mean that you cannot enjoy it without seeing the earlier installments.
This is the cleanest Terminator movie ever. All other movies were full of urban rubbish environments but there is a lot of greenery and the beauty of the countryside in this. I never expected it to have a single tree after watching the fourth movie, Terminator Salvation. But the screenwriters have been so smart in taking the greenery back to the story.
Sarah Connor has been brought back to her youth and is performed by the cute Emilia Clarke. Her performance is both original and breathtaking. She is the best star in the movie. Kyle Reese is played by Jai Courtney.
I do not understand as to why this movie has been given unfavorable reviews by the critics. And also it has under-performed in its domestic market, the United States. For me, if not for the emotional bond I have with James Cameron’s Terminator 2 – Judgment Day, Terminator Genisys would have been the best in the franchise. It is full of action and adventure. Special effects are beyond your wildest imagination. And they have very successfully brought back the first Terminator to this movie with computer generated images (CGI.)
The film was released by Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions on July 1, 2015. In addition to the standard digital format, it was released in Real 3D and IMAX 3D.
Do not wait to see this movie in DVDs or through torrents. You must see it in a theater with 3D facilities.
